Day 6- Good Evening from Kayunga! Happy Mother’s Day!!!
Today we got to sleep in a little, the team was scheduled to meet at 8:30, but most were up at 4 or 5am. Jet leg is horrid! You wake up before you’re supposed to, and want to go to bed at 4:30pm in the afternoon. We ate Rolex (omelet/tortilla roll up), fruit and instant coffee for breakfast. Then off to the farm for a field trip with the whole team, Charles (Boss/Daddy), and 3 of his kids. Yay!
The crops looked fantastic!! Lush, green, and happy. Corn 5 ft or taller, green beans planted below, coffee trees, and holes where they said the banana trees had been planted. We got word yesterday that the neighbor farm owner offered up the land next door to be purchased. What an amazing thing, if it would be possible to expand next door. OPPORTUNITY KNOCKING!!!??
We left the farm and drove to Tender Mercies for lunch. What a joy it is when you’re driving through town and all the kids run out to wave hiiiii, with SUCH excitement, screaming mzunga mzunga (white person/foreigner)!!! Like we were the Beatles. Then get to the home where our kids run out to welcome us. So many pure hearted little angels to love on for this Momma and the others. Reminding us that you don’t have to have children, or be around your children, and Mother’s Day can be just as special. For these orphaned kids will gladly accept the love and affection of any of us, even though we’re Mzunga’s. Happiest Mothers Day, and GOD BLESS! Have a very joyous day!
